HOBART receives German Design Award 2015

 PREMAX FTPi Warewash system wins major German design award

In a great honor for HOBART and a first in the warewashing industry, The German "Rat für Formgebung" (Design Council) has awarded the Offenburg-based manufacturer the German Design Award 2015. HOBART is the first warewashing manufacturer to receive this major German design award, which will be presented in Frankfurt next February.

The German Design Award 2015 in the category "Industry, Materials and Health Care" goes to HOBART for the new PREMAX FTPi warewash system . The committee of renowned experts from economics, university, science, and design industry have judged the innovative design of the PREMAX FTPi as groundbreaking in the German and international design landscape. They based their judgment on criteria such as functionality, safety and ease of operation, ecological and technical quality, visual appearance, and overall concept.

HOBART Managing Director Axel Beck was happy about the prize stating: "Winning the German Design Award is a great honor for HOBART and makes us very proud. The receipt of the major design award of its kind in Germany elevates the HOBART design to the highest level ‒ and makes us the first wash ware producer ever to win it."

With the German Design Award 2015, the exemplary styling of the PREMAX FTPi receives its third design price. This year, HOBART's new warewash system already won the IF Design Award by International Forum Design and the RedDot Design Award.

According to Axel Beck, these awards confirm HOBART's global top position as leading and most innovative wash ware manufacturer: " We are committed to manufacture the best dishwashers in the world. With the PREMAX FTPi, we succeeded in every respect: Its technology is future-oriented, its operating costs are the lowest in the market, and its functional and attractive design perfectly combines form and function."

Credit for the prize-winning appearance of the PREMAX FTPi warewash system goes to Ottenwälder & Ottenwälder from Schwäbisch-Gmünd. The company is renowned for industrial design has received numerous other national and international design awards for different industries.

The German Design Council was established in 1953 on the initiative of the German Bundestag as a foundation. Today, it is one of the globally leading centers of competence for communication and brand management in the field of design. Every year, it confers the German Design Award in a total of 20 categories to premium German products and projects in the fields of product design and communication design.

Reverse osmosis water filtration and its benefits to glass and dishwasher users.

Reverse osmosis has been the buzz word of the past few years but it is not a new concept, it has been around for 50+ years, but most people don't know what it is or how it can benefit them.

What is Reverse Osmosis Filtration?

To put it simply, reverse osmosis is an efficient way of filtering water to achieve almost total demineralisation.

What does this mean for the end user?

It means that for those washing glassware or cutlery, there is no spotting left on the glass or cutlery after drying. This eliminates the need for polishing of glassware, saving time and ultimately, money.

As a side effect of the Reverse Osmosis water, chemical consumption is also reduced by up to 60%, saving even more dollars.

Is Reverse Osmosis suited to my situation?

There are many factors which will determine whether Reverse Osmosis is suited to a situation and which unit will suit you best.

Wage costs: A simple calculation of how many man hours are wasted either polishing glassware or cutlery (i.e.: (Number of hours polishing) X (Hourly wage rate) X (Days per annum of operation)). These hours can add up to a huge cost quickly (e.g.: 1 hour per day x $15.96 (the minimum wage) x 300 days per year (6 days per week, 2 week shut down) = $4,788.00 per annum).
Do you spend enough time polishing to justify a new glass washer?

Services available at site: Reverse osmosis filters require a cold water feed (< 35 degrees Celsius). This will affect the performance of the glass washer by increasing recovery times and limiting the amount of cycles permissible per hour. To overcome this, it is possible to add buffer tanks and convert many units to 3 phase power giving you the required recovery rates for busy establishments.
